Look on line 12a of your Form 1040.   Do you see your standard deduction?   It has been used in the calculations before the tax due appears on line 37.

PREVIEW 1040

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

Correct ... when you entered your personal info in the MY INFO tab and decided on a filing status then the correct standard deduction for that filing status was already being used for the tax calculations in the Refund-O-Meter before you entered a single dime of income.   If you had entered enough itemized deductions to use that option only then you would have seen a difference in the meter.

not deduction the standard deduction from the tax amount due

The Standard deduction is subtracted from your income (before the tax is calculated), not from the taxes themselves.
