Yes. You can get more information on how TurboTax is selecting Itemized Deductions for you by doing the following:
To view a summary of your current tax return, go to Tax Tools on the left panel and then select Tools.
When you click on "View Tax Summary", you will be able to see how your totals are applied, as well as your Itemized/Standard Deduction amount.
Just above the Tax Tools, you will see, "Preview my 1040", which will also provide you with more details.
Hello,
Thank you for trying to help.
I am following the instructions but I am not getting an itemized list of what Turbo Tax thinks I can claim as credit in the itemized deduction part. It just tells me how much in total. But that is not useful to double-check the number.
Some items that automatically go to Schedule A Itemized Deductions could be:
Any state withholding on your W2 or 1099 forms
Any state estimated payment you made
Any state tax due you paid last year (for any prior year)
Any property tax you paid on a 1098 form
Any local taxes withheld on your checks like SDI in box 14 or 19 on your W2
And the state tax limit has increased from $10,000 to 40,000 so you can deduct more.
