TT is subtracting my HSA distribution for medical expenses. It is assuming I paid for medical expenses with my HSA distribution. These expenses were COBRA premiums.

The cobra premiums were paid out of pocket.  Not with my HSA.  Is this a software glitch? I should have a deduction for the amount over 7.5% of AGI. But the program is assuming I used my HSA distribution to pay my cobra premium.  Help

The medical expense deduction interview wants you to include all your medical expenses and all your reimbursements. You need to add the expenses that you paid that were reimbursed from your HSA. Then, TurboTax will subtract the HSA reimbursement, and whatever is left over will be applied to the 7.5% limit and so on.

Thank you.  That makes sense. I will add all the expenses individually that make up the total of my HSA distribution.

You just need to make the total come out right.  I think the reason Turbotax asks for all the individual details is to remind people of what is deductible.
