Property taxes can be entered in 2 locations under the Deductions & Credits section.
If you entered your property taxes paid along with a 1098 form for interest (reported in box 10), then navigate back to the Form 1098 to edit the amount. Enter property taxes in one location or the other, but not both.
To edit the 1098 for a box 10 entry:
- In your open return, select My Account
- Tools
- Topic Search
- Type '1098' in the box, then select GO
To edit in the property tax location:
- In your open return, select My Account
- Tools
- Topic Search
- Type 'property tax' in the box, then select GO
Note: If you had a home office or rented part of your home, partial amounts for property taxes may already be recorded. Enter the remaining balance only in the Deductions & Credits section.
