How can you sell Turbo Tax before the new tax plan has been voted on?

The new tax plan is for next year--i..e, the 2018 tax year.   The current tax year product is 2017.  The vast majority of things will stay the same for 2017.   The major tax overhaul is for 2018, and will be reflected in TurboTax 2018 which will be released in November 2018.

That being said, then like the end of every tax year, there may be a few minor changes/tweaks for 2017 included in the current tax plan being considered in Congress.  If so, any changes or tax extenders that affect tax year 2017 will be incorporated into TurboTax in the product updates that occur every week or two.

The IRS will not start taking 2017 returns until mid-to-late January.   It is not uncommon for some of the Federal forms not to be ready in TurboTax by that date, depending on last-minute tax law changes.

When the expected timetable for Federal forms availability is ready, it will be published on this page:
