The new requirement to deduct the interest requires that the loan or line of credit must be used to buy, build or substantially improve your home. Borrowing to remodel (substantially improve) your home meets this requirement.

How dare Turbo Tax charge $144 for an easy return that cannot be e-filed, when New York REQUIRES E-FILING BY LAW. I completed and e-filed for FREE on 1040 website.
