The care credit form in the state review does not see the 4th entry from the federal form so it is then miscalculating the total and will not ever let me correct it. Do I need to scrap it all and start over? I have already paid for my full Turbo Tax usage for this year.
I have gone back to the Federal entry form several times, to confirm I have entered all my information correctly. I entered 4 different care providers with their EINs (tax IDs) and all info that was required (addresses, phone numbers, etc.) My total entered matches the sum of all 4 care providers. But, when it takes me to the state review, it says "something's wrong, let's review and fix state." But then the form shows only 3 entries (not 4), and I cannot fix them. And, one of the entries is wrong; it's NOT what I entered in the Federal form, before.
Also, it shows you a preview of the form, but the edit field does not allow you to identify the cell where the supposed number is incorrect. THEN, when you scroll, it gets very scrambled. The interface is malfunctioning, badly. I mean, it's certainly a software problem. I noticed the other day there were only 3 spots for care providers, and again, I had entered 4 at the Federal entry point, so I am thinking this could be part of the problem. It does not look like the Federal form has a limit to the number of entries we can add for care providers, but the Oregon state form seems to be limited to only 3.
I have reached an impasse. I cannot file because of this error. So frustrating.

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

Hello. Thank you for your response. At this point I have already filed. I ended up filing the Federal return electronically, and the State return by mail. I discovered it really was a matter of the form intake of data not transferring into the State form from the Federal form, because there were only 3 spaces on the state form. Somewhere from the community or in FAQs, I learned that if you start to fill in the Qs about care providers for the care credit - and you leave without finishing it (let's say you stop and hit "save" and logout) - the program will not let you finish, and, in layman's terms, it gets messed up. I learned this through a search of "Form 2441" when it showed the Q: "How do I delete Form 2441?" (I think that's what it was.)
If you look at Form 2441, it has only 3 spaces to record care providers, and it has a checkbox saying, "If you have additional providers, attach additional information" (I am paraphrasing). So, that is what I did, on a printed-out paper document. This was an inconvenience, for sure, but at least I found a work-around. I will probably now be waiting weeks (months?) for my State refund. Hopefully, there will be no hang ups.
