I am running into the same thing. I filed my taxes and then received an amended 1099 form. I went in to file and amendment and noticed my federal tax liability increased before I entered in my amended information. I went back to my deductions and TurboTax is NOT calculating my biomass stove credit at all. I am assuming this is a bug because I updated my TurboTax before I went to file my amendment.
Do you have enough tax liability to claim the credit? The biomass credit is part of the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit. This is a nonrefundable credit that cannot be carried forward. Which means it is a use it or lose it credit. So if you do not have a tax liability in the tax year you are filing for on line 16 of your form 1040 for it to offset, or you already have enough other non-refundable credits to offset it, you will not be able to claim this credit.
Yes I filed my return on Tuesday 2/24 and still owed a liability and it calculated my biomass stove credit correctly. I received an amended 1099 today and went in to do the amendment and TurboTax did a software update for a update from yesterday 2/27. When I restarted the program my federal tax liability shot up before I even entered my updated 1099. My amended 1099 is for more money which will only increase my liability, therefore my biomass stove credit will still be valid. After looking to see what changed, I noticed TurboTax was no longer calculating my biomass stove credit. I talked to customer service and their screen showed the correct amount, but when they remoted into my screen they noticed the wrong amount that I was seeing, but they couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t receiving credit, and their program wouldn’t allow them to submit a ticket for a problem.
I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. EVERYTHING WORKED FINE BEFORE THE LAST UPDATE.
I have the same problem. I spent $10,400 on a wood burning fireplace insert / biomass stove. It keeps showing $0 for the credit, and we owe above the what would be the $2,000 tax credit. I just spoke to customer service and walked through what I was entering. She said there's an investigation open on it before the weekend and they're working on debugging it in the next few days.
I do have a tax burden greater than $2k on line 16. So I should be getting credited right?
Following. This is an issue for us as well.
Having the same issue
Same issue. it was fine last week and today that I updated Turbo Tax the credit for the stove is not being applied
Just started up TurboTax, installed the latest update, and my woodstove credit went away.
Version number now says: WinPerRelease [phone number removed]
Arg. The version number I entered is not a phone number.

This problem has been resolved with an update today
Thanks for coming here to let us know of the update. I'd been waiting to hear before continuing with frustration. Now, it's all good - mine has gone through as of today. Thanks everyone for reporting and pushing TT to update the blip 🙂
