Taxes paid for previous year on home rennovation

Hi: We did a major renovation to our home in 2019 but did not claim the taxes paid on materials (neglect on my part) last year. Can I use sales tax on materials paid in 2019 for taxes done now (for the 2020 year), filed in 2021)?

No, the sales tax deduction can only be claimed in the year that the sales tax was paid.

If the amount was significant enough, you can amend your 2019 return to claim the sales tax on that return.
