Go back to the input section.
On the black panel on the left, select "My Info"
Scroll down below your name. Look to see if you have any more names below yours with the status showing as "Dependent".
If you notice that you have a name with a dependent under it, you can go back to the My Info section, and delete the dependent as shown in the attached:

This should delete the message about having a dependent.
I too don't have a child and received this message. When checking the "My Info" section I had not listed any dependents and was filing as "single." Any suggestions?
You may have answered a question inadvertently at least to tell TurboTax that you have a dependent child. It's probably best to cancel and start again. Here's how to do that: how to clear and start over
I cleared and started over twice making sure that I have the correct answers to it but the question still pops up.
I should point out that I am under the age of 24 and can be claimed by my parents as a dependent but I am not being claimed as such. Is the system assuming that I am the person under 24 and hence I should answer yes since I earned income?
Yes, that's what you need to do as the system is assuming your parents are filing your return.
Okay with that being said for federal tab, it says w-2 and child's income(under age 24). Assuming "my parents" are filing, would it be my w-2 or their w-2?
Are you under age 24 and may be claimed by your parents? Is this a question about IRS form 8814?
