Subway fare for volunteer work

I know that subway fare is considered a personal expense but I read that you can deduct it for volunteer work because its representative of time that you gave to an organization. Can someone help with how to enter this deduction?

Yes, you can deduct travel expenses connected with a charitable organization.   The IRS says that a volunteer can claim a charitable contribution deduction for travel expenses only if there is “no significant element of personal pleasure, recreation, or vacation in the travel.”  You will claim your travel deductions on Schedule A if you itemize your deductions.  If you take the standard deduction then you can not take the deduction.
