2022 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS

 

SINGLE $12,950  (65 or older + $1750)

 

MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $12,950  (65 or older + $1750)

 

MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $25,900  (65 or older + $1400 per spouse)

 

HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD  $19,400  (65 or older +$1750)

 

Legally Blind + $1750

Standard deduction for tax year 2022

You will have an additional standard deduction for being over 65. 
 
 
For single taxpayers and married individuals filing separately, the standard deduction rises to $12,950 for 2022, up $400, and for heads of households, the standard deduction will be $19,400 for tax year 2022, up $600.
 
Taxpayers who are 65 and Older or are Blind
 

For 2022, the additional standard deduction amounts for taxpayers who are 65 and older or blind are: Single or Head of Household – $1,750 (increase of $50) Married taxpayers or Qualifying Widow(er) – $1,400 (increase of $50)
