Solar tax credit installation date requirement

Hi there,

I have a solar and energy storage installation that is going to start in December 2022, and estimated to finish and pass inspection in January/February 2023.   For the purpose of claiming the 30% solar tax credit, should this solar tax credit be claimed for the tax year 2022 or tax year 2023?

The credit is claimed in the tax year the system is up and running and "in service". So that would be 2023 for your situation.
