Shouldn't an adjustment to the mortgage interest effect the taxes? The refinance was used for the secured home and and a second home. Pub936 says that's allowable.

Many taxpayers are finding, this year, that they're not getting a tax benefit by claiming home mortgage interest and property tax.

The standard deduction has nearly doubled, this year, and because of this, many people are no getting a tax benefit by itemizing.
