Should i prepay property tax in 2017

I live in California and pay a lot of property tax. I am wondering if I should pay the amount due on  Dec 10 2017 and the amount due on April 10, 2018 both in 2017 to get a bigger deduction while I can?  Is it legal?

It is absolutely legal to do so.  Be careful that you aren't subject to the Alternative Minimum Tax in 2017, since state and local taxes are not deductible under the AMT, which means the prepayment won't do you any good, anyway.
