Should I wait to file until congress makes a decision on the child tax credit or can/do I do it now?

It is highly doubtful that Congress will change the tax code for tax year 2023 now that filing for 2023 has begun.

Wait if you want to.   The IRS does not begin to accept/reject 2023 e-files until January 29.  You have plenty of time to file.    Congress is considering a change to the child tax credit, but there is no telling if --or when-- the change will pass.   But...remember when Congress changed the tax law for unemployment in mid-tax season a couple of years ago and what a mess that was?   Folks who  had filed early then had to wait and get additional refunds--sometimes months later.
