Should I enter a charitable contribution carryover that was entered in the Federal return as a carry-over credit in the NC State return?

The software does it automatically once you've put it in the Federal tax return Charity section..

I tested it with an initial $16,000 of charity donations showing on line 20 of the NC D-400 Sch S form.  Then added a $500 2017 charity carryover in the Federal section, and line 20 of the NC SCH S 20 immediately showed $16,500.

Of course, it doesn't show anything there on the NC form SCH S until the total of all "allowed" NC deductions is high enough such that NC itemized deductions  are being used.

All deductions are transferred from your entries in the federal section..so keep putting in everything possible there.
