Should box 2 of my 1098 Mortgage Interest Statement list the current balance of my mortgage principal instead of $0.00?

Box 2 of Form 1098 should show your outstanding mortgage balance as of January 1, 2018.

If the amount that is shown (0.00) is incorrect, you will need to contact your lender and request a Corrected Form 1098.
