Your filing status has no effect on the amount you are eligible to contribute. It depends only on the type of HDHP coverage you had, single or family. Go back through the HSA interview and make sure that you indicated that you had family coverage. Assuming that you do not have any other coverage that would disqualify you from being eligible for an HSA contribution, if you had eligible HDHP coverage for the full 12 months of 2016, or had eligible family HDPD coverage on December 1, 2016 and will maintain eligible family HDHP coverage for all 12 months of 2017, you are permitted the full family contribution amount.
