Real Estate Tax

Our mortgage company messed up and did not pay all of our 2016 property taxes until this past week.  This amounts to $3,066.81.  1.  Can we still deduct this for 2016?  2.  If I can, the amount is not on the 1098 from the mortgage company, is there another place to put this?  Thank you!

Real Estate Tax

No, you can only deduct property taxes actually paid in 2016.

This amount of $3,066.81 will be deductible in 2017, together with any 2017 property tax that you will pay.
