Ready to e-file but due to form 8839 it will not file my return. We do not have any adoptived children. I deleted from forms but still will not file my taxes.

Please try these instructions to delete Form 8839 from your return:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  4. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.

If you see "Adoptive Child Worksheet", "Adoption Carryover Computation Wksht", and/or "Form 8839" delete them all.  Start with the worksheet because they have to be deleted before the Form 8839 will stay deleted. Additionally, make sure you have removed all code T's from your W-2's before attempting to delete the worksheets and/or Form 8839.
