To enter personal property taxes -

Under Cars and Other Things You Own
On Personal Property Taxes, click on the start button
To claim the deduction, you must itemize your deductions and, meet the IRS requirements.
Per IRS: Deductible personal property taxes are those based only on the value of personal property such as a boat or car. The tax must be charged to you on a yearly basis, even if it's collected more than once a year or less than once a year.
When I follow those steps (TurboTax Deluxe 2024), I get an error dialog box:
Have you tried this (click on bold link below)?
Enter Property Tax:
When your property/real estate taxes are included on your 1098, you’ll enter them as part of your mortgage interest in the property or real estate tax field.
If they aren't listed on your 1098, you’ll enter them separately as property/real estate taxes.
TurboTax FAQ: Where do I enter my real estate (property) taxes in TurboTax?
This is about PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX (based on value for cars, etc) not PROPERTY TAX (real estate). Yes, I tried searching for PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX and clicked it, same result.
Go to Deductions and Credits > Cars and Other Things You Own > Personal Property Tax to enter your information.
The following TurboTax help article may give you further guidance:
Where do I enter my personal property tax?
The latest update that arrived today fixed the bug. It no longer gives the error dialog.
That used to be the place, but this year TurboTax says that section is not to be used for cars. Any other suggestions?

If is used for cars if the tax is based on the value of the vehicle then it is a deductible personal property tax.
There is a place for personal property tax, but car registration has its own section
Deductions & Credits
Cars and Other Things You own
Car Registration Fees
(NOT Personal Property Taxes)
The reason this has changed is because different states compute the vehicle registration differently.
Some use the weight of the vehicle.
Some use the value of the vehicle.
You can only deduct the fee if it is a tax and a tax is based on value.
Use this place to enter and TurboTax will help determine if its deducible.
