This year (2020), we can take $300 above the line deduction for cash donation made. Why is turbotax not calculating that yet? Are they still working on it?

The software has not yet been updated for the charitable contribution to be entered on Form 1040 Line 10b if you take the Standard Deduction

"Use 1040/1040SR WKS" line 10b to input the deduction.  It works fine.

@RBH2020    The original poster doesn't have the downloaded version so direct entry in the FORMS mode is not available.

It's because they want you to upgrade to the premium edition.

It appears to be working in TurboTax Deluxe after testing. You must enter it in the charitable section as usual and then click the "wrap up deductions and credits" for it to pick the standard deduction and apply the $300 above the line.

Once you make the entry you should be able to check it by using the Tax Tools:

  • To find Tools:

    • Sign into your TurboTax account and open or continue your return.

    • Select Tax Tools in the left menu.

    • You'll find Tools beneath Tax Tools.

    • Select View Tax Summary

    • Select Preview My 1040 (left black panel)
