Using Basic Turbotax and at very end wouldn't allow me to File Return UNLESS I upgraded to Deluxe, due to:

You have Retirement Savings Contribution credit.
TurboTax Free Edition does not cover this situation.

I don't understand why as my taxes were more then simple. Could I have done something wrong?

It you contributed to a retirement plan then yiu could get a savers credit but that is reported on a schedule that the free edition does not support.

The TurboTax Free edition only supports simple tax returns that do not require any additional schedules. More complex tax returns will require Deluxe or higher depending on the forms that are needed.

You might be able to use the Free File (formally called Freedom Edition) for incomes under $72,000 (or $39,000 with the TurboTax version) and supports all states and most forms.

The Free File is part of the IRS Free File alliance and is totally separate from TurboTax website.

You can also access the Free File tax alliance programs via the IRS website.

I just filled out W2 questions which included 12a D 401K. Is this what you're referring to as Retirement Plan Contributions? Or possible I made mistake or clicked wrong button? Wouldn't be the first time!
