My mortgage was sold during 2019. I have a 1098 from the original lender and from the new lender. Both 1098's have an Outstanding Principal Balance in Box 2. If I enter both amounts, Turbo Tax will think I have about twice as much mortgage outstanding. However, Turbo Tax does not let me enter $0 or Blank. If I leave both amounts in Box 2 then it pushes the mortgage balance over $1M and I am not eligible to itemize. What is the solution?
