You can follow these steps to edit your real estate tax entry in TurboTax:

1. Find the Deductions and Credits menu in TurboTax and click on it

2. Choose I'll choose what I work on option if you see it

3. Look for the Your Home option and then Property Tax and click on it

4. Update the property tax entry you made in TurboTax

I need to correct my entry for real estate taxes paid.  I followed the instructions, but when I click update, it just skips to "additional real estate taxes paid".  It does not allow me to change the entry.

If you are using the online version, you could have a piece of information stuck. I recommend you try closing out of the program and going back in. If that does not work, try to clear your cookies and cache. If that fails, change your browser or log in from a different device.

I still am not able to correct the property tax entry.  The software completely skips the page for the entry and goes to "Additional Property Taxes".

If you originally entered your property taxes on the 1098-INT screen, you won't be able to edit them in the Property tax screen. If you entered them in both places, the amount will double. Try this:

    1. Use the search box toward the upper right to search for Mortgage interest.
    2. Click on Jump to mortgage interest.
    3. Click Edit to the right of your lender's name.
    4. Continue until you get the screen titled, Let's get the details from your 1098.
    5. There is a box for Property tax under Box 5.

If that is where you first entered it, you will be able to edit the amount in the box.

Please note that you may have entered the amount in a different part of the return if you had a part year rental or a home office deduction on your tax return. If that is the case, you will need to review those sections to make a correction.
