My child didn't turn 17 until 12/15/2022. Why is my child tax credit only $500 for tax year 2022?

Sorry they had to be under 17 on Dec 31 to get the Child Tax Credit. The rules went back to before 2021. For 2021 only they extended the age limit to 18.

Sorry---that is the law. If she turned 17 before the end of 2022 you do not get the child tax credit. Remember the year she was born? You got it then and she was only a few days away from the end of the tax year.
