Educational expense deduction

I'm (trying to) entering education expenses for our daughter who is attending college. We received a Form 1098-T from her university which shows payments received for qualified tuition and related expenses. I am using the step-by-step method to enter this information. I'm at the screen for entering education expenses and the line for tuition and enrollment fees. The value for this field shows $0 and it doesn't let me edit this number. Clicking on the hyperlinked text, the explanation says "Note: You entered this number in earlier." I didn't enter anything from her form 1098-T earlier. How can I fix this?

I suggest you see if there is a form 1098-T in your program and if so, delete it and then re-enter your education deductions again. You can delete the form 1098-T as follows:

1. Find the Tax Tools option on your left menu bar and click on it

2. Click on Tools

3. Find Delete a Form and click on it

4. Look for form 1098-T in the list of forms and click on the option to delete it

Thanks, Thomas!

I simply edited my form 1098-T so it included the correct tuition amount. I wonder why this was prefilled with a zero amount. I assume it imported the form from 2018 but I'd still expect to be prompted for the tuition amount.

Yes, must have come over from the previous year. Box one should have been blank, so not sure what happened.
