Prorated real estate taxes

I purchased a house and have prorated real estate taxes on my settlement statement. The seller has the credit of them and I have the debit. Who gets to deduct them on the schedule a? Myself or the seller?

You would as long as those were paid in 2016 (you closed in 2016).
