Property tax for 2017 paid in 2016

bought a house in may 2016, paid the prop taxes for the term of July 1, 16 - June 30, 2017 entirely in 2016.  I can claim those prop taxes in 2016's return or no?

As long as you paid all of the property taxes which were due in that year you can claim them as paid in '16

OK thanks!  and even though I paid for prop taxes that were tech for the 6 months in 2017, I can claim them for 2016, since they were paid then?  I understand that to be the case, but double confirming 🙂 thanks!
