It's not clear what you might need, however if you are trying to complete a Schedule F for farming on your inherited land, use the information in the link below.

To begin your entry for farming you can use the information next in TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop:

  • Search (upper right) > Type farm income > Click the Jump to... link > Begin entering  your information
  • If you are referring to the Principal Agricultural Activity Code - select the closest to your activity or leave it blank

If you need additional information or assistance please provide more details and we will help.

Property code for farm land inherited long ago?

Unfortunately this doesn't answer the question on the "disposition worksheet" (Line 2) which seems to be required for form 4835.

This is supposedly the form for sale of non-depreciable property used in business or rental activity.

It keeps showing that no matter what I choose it's an error.

What other form shows date acquire, date sold, gross sales price, basis, and expenses of sale?

Thanks,

Mavis

If you are trying to enter the sale of non-depreciable business property you can enter it as follows and not in Form 4835. The actual sale will fall onto Form 4797 which will occur with the instructions below. The reporting of the sale of property will go to the right place on your tax return. You may need to delete any entries you may have tried to make earlier.

Gather any information you need from the assets/property that is being sold then use the steps below to enter the sale. Leave the depreciation line blank.

Sale of Business Property:

  1. Income and Expenses at the top
  2. Scroll down to Other Business Situations
    • For TurboTax Desktop: Business Income and Expenses > Less Common Business Situations
  3. Select Sale of Business Property
  4. Select Sales of business or rental property that you haven't already reported.
  5. Answer 'Yes' to Do all of the following apply...?
  6. Enter your sales information:
    1. Description of the Property (Machine Type)
    2. Sales Price/Sales Expenses
    3. Date acquired and date sold
    4. Cost
    5. Depreciation - $0 (may be best to leave it blank)
