Can I write of the purchase of a travel trailer if I bought it to live in on my property while remodeling?
No. You can treat it as a second home if it has cooking, toilet, and living facilities. You can deduct mortgage interest on it and property tax. Nothing else. You can not deduct the cost of it just as you can not deduct the cost of a home. Why you bought it has nothing to do with it.
