Cars been down for 2 months. Not able to get it fixed, so don't have repair cost. I've been renting a car 3 days a week for work. Is this still deductible & how? Thanks!

No, you can't deduct commuting expenses (the cost of transportation between your home and your main or regular place of work).

It is two ways to deduct your car rental.

  1. If you're self-employed, you might rent a vehicle because you're traveling for business and you need transportation because your car is in the shop for repairs.  You need to move from one work location to another within your tax home area, visiting customers, attending a business meeting away from the regular workplace, getting from home to a temporary workplace when you have one or more regular places of work. https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tips/small-business-taxes/business-use-of-vehicles/L6hi0zzzh
  2. Your employer requires you to rent a car, and they never reimbursed expenses. Generally, the following expenses are deducted on Schedule A (Form 1040), line 21.

This is a personal expense, and is not deductible.
