We have a FSA account. why am i doing a form for HSA?

No the are not the same thing.

FSA amounts are not entered anywhere in your tax return (contributions or distributions), except as entered from a W-2 form.

FSA contributions are taken out pre-tax from your salary and are not deductible again. There is no transfer of this information into your tax return. Any notation such as in box 14 or box 12 of your W-2 is just informational.

If you previously visited the HSA section, then the Form 8889 could be still in your form list. Delete the form if you are certain it is not needed.

To Delete a form:

  • In your open return, select My Account
  • Tools
  • Delete a form
  • Scroll list to Form 8889-T, and select Delete

Caution: Be careful when deleting forms. Once it is deleted, it is gone forever. Form information often flows from form/schedule/worksheets and deleting can cause a mess.
