New landscape sales tax deductible?

I was wondering if the sales tax I was charged for a new landscape at my residence can be deducted? The project sales tax for plant and hardscape materials was a total of $695. I thought this might be similar to the sales tax deduction for "building materials" used for a home improvement

It depends.  Yes, you are permitted to deduct sales tax on your landscaping. But, you would need to be itemizing to take advantage of the sales tax deduction. ‌As well, you need to choose either the sales tax deduction or the state and local income tax deduction (not both the income tax and sales tax added together).
