If you inadvertently entered information from Form 5498-SA on the 1099-SA screen, you may delete the 1099-SA. If you entered an incorrect HSA contribution amount on the Let's enter your HSA contributions screen, you may remove/edit this amount.
To delete Form 1099-SA in TurboTax Online:
- Open (continue) your return in TurboTax.(If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in and click Take me to my return.)
- Click My Account (top right of your screen).
- Click Delete a form. (Click the first screenshot below for reference.)
- Scroll down and click Delete next to the form you wish to remove, in your case, 1099-SA. (Click the second screenshot below for reference.)
- Click Delete Selected Form to verify that you wish to delete the form. (Click the third screenshot below for reference.)
To edit the HSA contribution information you entered earlier in TurboTax Online:
- Open (continue) your return in TurboTax Online.(If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in and click Take me to my return.)
- Click My Account (top right of your screen).
- Click Tools.
- Click Topic Search.
- In the search bar, type hsa.
- In the results box, highlight hsa and click Go.
- You'll land on Your HSA Summary. Click Edit.
- On the Tell us about the health-related accounts you had in 2016 screen, make sure HSA is checked and click Continue.
- Under Here's what we have so far, click Edit next to the HSA you want to edit.
- Continue answering the questions in the HSA interview. When you return to the Here's what we have so far screen, click Done.
- Again, continue following the onscreen instructions. When you get to the Let's enter your HSA contributions screen, you may edit the HSA contribution information. (Click the fourth screenshot below for reference.)
