Need answer on whether I can claim property tax expense on inherited property that I dont live in but my brother does. What about HOA fees?

Need answer on whether I can claim property tax expense on inherited property that I dont live in but my brother does. What about HOA fees?
In order to take a deduction for either property taxes or mortgage interest, you must be both liable for the debt and pay the debt. If you own the property and are liable, then you can claim property taxes. HOA is not deductible on a personal residence, only on business property.

In order to take a deduction for either property taxes or mortgage interest, you must be both liable for the debt and pay the debt. If you own the property and are liable, then you can claim property taxes. HOA is not deductible on a personal residence, only on business property.
