My state tax return is $8445 when it should only be $445. I’m getting a tax return for my vehicle even though I don’t own one.

I’ve tried fixing it over and over again but it still says i’m getting $8000 and there’s no way I’d be owed that if I don’t even own a vehicle.

most likely for state withholding and/or estimated tax payments you entered a bad number by including an extra digit or putting the decimal point in the wrong place.

i.e. go back to the Federal section, and edit every tax form that had state withholding showing on it to check those state tax withholding entries.  Usually those are on W-2 forms, W-2G forms or 1099-R forms......also, could occasionally show on a few other tax forms...but you know what form-types you've entered.
