My son is 17 lives at home does not work and goes to highschool full time but yet it says he does not qualify for the child tax credit?

Your son does not qualify for the child tax credit your son has to be under age 17 at the end of 2018 to qualify. But he might qualify for the $500 Credit for other dependents.
