the contributions are not reported on the 1099-SA form. it only reports amounts withdrawn from the HSA. for HSA contributions you would get from 5498-SA. if they were made from payroll deductions that would be the amount in box 12 code W on your w-2 which flows to line 9 of form 8889. do not duplicate them on line 2 of form 8889. that line is only for contributions you made directly to the HSA.
the 5498-sa the IRS got must match the totals on lines 2 and 9 on the 8889
Does your Form 8889 show that you are applying an excess contribution carried in from 2022 as part of your contribution for 2023? If so TurboTax has modified the way that the application of excess is shown on Form 8889 to satisfy the IRS but in the process has broken the way the application of the excess is shown on line 43 of Form 5329, so you'll still need to wait for the fix to line 43 before you can file a correct tax return.
Well the IRS reject my 2025 tax form 1040 if I did not fill out the monthly HSA Form 8889 worksheet A with the check boxes for each month of the year 2025 indicating none, self, or family?
If your W-2 shows contributions to an HSA in Box 12, Code W, you need to step through the HSA section and complete the interview, which will ask about the type of HDHP insurance you had each month. TurboTax will then fill out the Form 8889 for you and you can resubmit your Efile.
Here's some info on Form 8889 to help you.
