My property tax was in the 1098 under "Disbursements from escrow". Does this still count as property tax I paid?

Can I include this number in Turbo Tax, under the section "Property taxes on your main home"?

Yes, if you show a disbursement from your escrow for payment of property taxes in 2025, you can include that expense to see if you can itemize your deductions. If you entered it in the 1098 screen, do not enter it again in the Property Taxes section. Be sure to enter it only once.

Standard deductions for your convenience:

For single taxpayers and married individuals filing separately, the standard deduction is $15,750 in 2025.

For married couples filing jointly or a Qualified Surviving Spouse, the standard deduction  is $31,500, and

For head of household, the standard deduction is $23,625

If you're at least 65 years old or blind, you can claim an additional deduction in 2025 of:

  • $2,000 for single or Head of Household
  • $1,600 for married or Qualified Surviving Spouse.
  • If you're both 65 and blind, the additional deduction amount is doubled.
