My mortgage (2012)was sold to another lender but new lender(2017) uses origin date of 1st lender. is that the date I use again for the new lender?

Yes, you are continuing to pay the original mortgage, just paying another lender.

If you had refinanced the loan instead of it being sold, then the answer would be different.
