My itemized deduction is greater than the standard deduction, yet Turbo Tax won't let me select itemized. How can I make ir switch to itemized? !!

Please compare the standard deduction plus charity allowed ($300- $600) to your itemized deductions. This is what the computer does. It should be picking the larger of the two for you, not what the itemized vs standard screen says. Your itemized may be larger than standard but less than standard plus charity.
