My husband and I both have HDHP and HSAs. I cover the family, and he just covers himself. Can he not have an individual HSA and get the tax benefits?

If one spouse maintains a family HDHP, the other spouse is required to select family HDHP on their 8889 form. This way the correct HSA limits are computed for the family unit.
