My home energy credit is not being applied in 2021 but instead pushed forward to 2022. Why?

The Residential Energy Efficient Credit is "non-refundable."  That means the credit cannot exceed the amount of tax you owe.

If you can't claim all or a portion of the Residential Energy Efficient Credit in the year in which the related expenditure is made, the unused portion of the credit may be carried forward to future tax years.  Perhaps this is what happened.

Did you enter in all your income yet ???    Until you do the credit has nothing to negate.
