My daughter works from home and has a home office she made $8509.50 last year turbo tax says she owes$1202 in federal taxes she is own her own how can this be correct?

This would be correct if she is self-employed or an independent contractor.  Self-employment taxes are 15.3%.  She is probably getting an earned income credit or something that slightly offsets the total amount she owes.
