Yes, the cost of that care is deductible on his personal return as long as it was paid.

From personal experience, I would be sure that you have all documents and that they are in his name and not yours. Sometimes the tax documents will come in later in your case.

I've added a TurboTax FAQ below on how to file that return as Executor if you would like to e-file that return (some states do not allow you to e-file as executor).

First, I empathize greatly. Do you claim your father as your dependent? I just want to be sure before I answer so that it can be reported correctly.

No, I  am just filing his tax return as executor of his estate.
