Mortgage loan origination - My current mortgage has been sold or moved to another company, should I not count this as my original on the 1098? It was never refinanced.

While filling our my info on the 1098, there is a question asking if my mortgage is the original or if it was refinanced.  My loan was sold to another company so it is not at the current place I had originally had my mortgage.  Does this count as a refi or do I count this as my original mortgage?

If YOU did not refinance it, then it is the original mortage . Mortgages get bought and sold all the time, but the intent of the changes in the Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017 was to change the way that real refinances were handled, not transactions between mortgage companies that you had no control over.
