Mortgage interest and divorce

I divorced in 2016.  I received a 1098 with both our names on it for the amount of time he remained on the mortgage and deed, which was about 9 months.  Everything I have read says the amount should be split however we see fit.   My ex has agreed in writing to let me claim the full amount.  Am I safe to do so?  I live in a community property state (WA).

Yes, you can claim the whole amount if you have the agreement from your ex-spouse.
