I have called Turbo Tax customer service to fix this but although they worked hard on my problem, it still isn't fixed. When I am using either Standard Deduction or Itemized, I cannot edit the Medical Expenses section of deductions. When I click on 'edit' a screen pops up saying "We checked and this deduction won't affect your taxes" with no opportunity to enter more info. Well, it might affect my taxes if I could enter some numbers. I don't even recall being prompted to enter any info for Medical Expenses when I was completing my return. BUT, line 1 of Schedule A does have a $ figure in it, however there is no Medical Expenses Worksheet (which feeds that line 1 on Schedule A) to be found anywhere (I saved the very long version- about 100 pages- of the return and can't find the worksheet there).
So can someone tell me how do I get rid of that $ figure on line 1 Schedule A and get a worksheet going to figure out the correct $ figure and have it inserted into line 1 Schedule A? And then edit the Medical Expenses section too.
My Turbo Tax screen says "Premium" but my closest choice for selecting a product in order to submit this request looks like "Premier" which is what I selected.

Yes, TurboTax will carry your health insurance information from the ACA insurance section, your Medicare premium from 1099-SA and your self-employed health insurance to the medical expenses section. This amount will appear on line 1 of Schedule A.
You should be able to enter your medical and dental expenses even if it won't help you.
The first question in the section is "Did you spend more than $XXX on medical expenses in 2022?" If you want to enter your expenses anyway, you must answer this question Yes.
Hi Julie, thanks for the response. But still, I am not able to access a way to enter medical expenses. I don't see a way to attach a screenshot of the page that comes up when I try to 'edit' or even 'revisit' medical expenses. Again, the page just says 'We checked, and this deduction won't affect your taxes'
and below that it says 'We'll keep looking for other tax breaks for you'.
If you are saying that this first question "Did you spend more than $XXX on medical expenses in 2022?" is within this section (Medical Expenses) then I cannot access it. There must be a way.
Also, I did input my ACA 1095-A but if I total up my actual premiums paid, it is a bit less than what I am seeing on Line 1 Schedule A. Not sure why there would be a difference unless something else gets added to that figure, besides medical expenses. And again, I don't recall even being prompted to start adding medical expenses. BTW, I do need to pay back some of the ACA premium credit.
I've done some calculating and it is possible that I can get a benefit from adding medical expenses.
Any help is so appreciated!
You can change you Medical Expenses entries by logging back into your TurboTax Desktop program and following the steps below.
Alicia, after your step 2, I am taken to the screen that says 'Now it's time for the fun part...' and I see all the deduction sections with $ values in them (I have input them already) and I can click on Edit or Edit/Add for each of those sections. This edit function works for all except the Medical Expenses section. So I don't see 'How do you want to enter your deductions and credits' as you suggest. Is it possible that what you are saying I should do would be for a new tax return? Because mine is mostly complete except for this one problem (I hope there are no more problems!).
Can you clarify which version of TurboTax you are using? I know you said Premier, but is it Online or Desktop?
Online version of Premium 2022.
Can you clarify have you already tried clearing your cache/cookies?
I just did it (cleared for 'all time') and I'm still getting the same result. I'm using Chrome.
If you are still getting an error, it would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2022" file that is experiencing this issue.
You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: Go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.
We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
Ok, I've sent it. #1068130
Unfortunately, you need to delete your Medical Expenses Worksheet entirely, then re-enter all of your medical expenses.
To do this in TurboTax Online please follow these steps:

This worked! Another question though, your item 7 "Reenter all your medical expenses, including the premiums you paid for your health insurance (even though you already entered your 1095-A)". I did this and now it appears that I am getting credit for the exact amount of premiums I paid (I figured this amount based on my monthly bills) on Med Exp Worksheet Line 2a, plus I am getting another amount added to my deduction, which is very close to the amount I actually paid, on Med Exp Worksheet Line 2b. In other words, it appears I am getting a double benefit for these premiums. It doesn't seem correct but maybe you can clarify.
I have edited my answer above.
